As a benefit to Anna Maria Island residents, there are several large preserves on adjacent or nearby mainland properties, ranging from the Robinson Preserve in northwest Bradenton and the Neal Preserve just south and east of the Anna Maria Bridge, to the Florida Institute of Saltwater Heritage (FISH) preserves south of Cortez Road.

Now, Charlie Hunsicker, of Manatee County's administration, is proposing adding three additional preserves, one of which will be adjacent to the Robinson property.
